Director of the Gallery, Reyna Henaine, has more than 20 years of
experience as a gallery owner. She has been a lecturer, curator
and an active promoter of international projects. After receiving
a degree in International Relations from the National University
of Mexico (UNAM) and in Public Administration at the International
Institute of Public Administration in France, Reyna pursued post-graduate
studies in Art History with a specialty in modern and contemporary
art.
ABOUT THE GALLERY DIRECTORBefore becoming an international art dealer
and gallery owner, Reyna Henaine led quite a different sort of life.
After completing her studies at the National University of Mexico,
she graduated Cum Laude and received a scholarship from the French
government to study at the International Institute of Public Administration
in Paris. She then spent twelve years working in several capacities
for the government of Mexico. During that time, Reyna traveled all
over the world. Whether she was at one of the many international
conferences she attended, a United Nations meeting, or involved
with the many opportunities of her job as Director of Political
and International Affairs for one of the Mexican Ministries, Reyna
became fascinated with the ways in which contemporary art reflected
the cultures of the countries where she traveled. Art became her
great passion and an increasingly significant part of her life,
prompting her to return to school to pursue masters studies
in Art History at the Iberoamerican University in Mexico.Reyna has
dedicated the last 20 years of her life to her art career. She became
an art professional and has developed a large number of activities
(See below). She dedicated herself to the study of contemporary
Latin American art and in 1981 co-founded the Grupo Arte Contemporáneo
Fine Art Gallery in Mexico City. As the owner of this gallery, she
curated more than 50 art exhibitions in coordination with museums
and cultural institutions in Mexico, the United States and several
other countries. She published more than 50 editions of graphic
art works by the most recognized Mexican contemporary masters. In
1994, she was honored as Director of the Cultural Affairs Department
and the Fine Art Gallery of Mexicos Lebanese Center, where
she remained until 1998.In 1996, Reyna Henaine began promoting her
Virtual Art Gallery on the Internet, becoming one of the pioneers
in Latin America to use the Internet in conjunction with fine art.
At its height, she presented 150 works of art on her website www.latin-art.com.mx.
At the same time she was also in charge of the cultural section
at Sale la Foto Magazine, a Supplement dedicated to the photography
of the well-known Mexican newspaper, Reforma. She has written texts
for numerous art catalogs and books for the artists she represents
and has been both a lecturer and advisor for art collectors the
world over. After several trips to New York, Reyna settled there
in 1997, becoming president of RH Latin American Art, a corporation
dedicated to the promotion of Latin American artists on an international
level. Her virtual art gallery and the shows that she has held in
New York have generated a great deal of interest for the Latin American
artists that she represents.
As a result of such positive response from New Yorks international
community, as well as from native New Yorkers, Reyna decided to
establish a permanent fine art gallery. In March of 2001, she opened
a Gallery space in a handsome red brick building in the thriving
community of Port Chester, New York.Located in Westchester County,
this beautiful gallery could be found in any important city in the
world. As a residential and international area which is primarily
home to families, Reyna feels that she has chosen Westchester
as the perfect environment for creating a sensibility and
interest in art from all over the world. Whether speaking
her native Spanish, English or French, Reyna is a natural and charismatic
promoter for the art that has become her true passion. Many diverse
and interesting roads have led her to her gallery at 6 North Pearl
Street, Port Chester NY 10573 where she is ready to welcome anyone
interested in art and the beauty it brings to life.*Bio by: Leslie
